BNI Invests US$ 3 Million for Call Centers

PT BNI Tbk (BBNI) will invest US$ 3 million to launch its call center service and recruit 600 employees, said Gatot M Suwondo, President Director of BNI. The service was previously handled by the bank’s branch offices. As it was ineffective, the company changed its strategy by centralizing the service. There are currently around 450 employees handling the service.

Honggo Widjojo Kangmasto, Director of Network and Services of BNI, said the service will handle clients' complaints, queries on interest rates and loan proposal mechanism, among others.

BNI will cooperate with PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk (TLKM) as the call center operator. Honggo said that the company expects that the improved call center service will prompt a growth in third party funds. BNI saw a 7.8 percent growth in its third party funds to Rp 188.64 trillion in the first quarter of 2011 from Rp 174.97 trillion year-on-year
